Gifts for Cyclists Who Already Have Everything

Anyone who rides a lot already has spare jerseys, bottles and multi-tools. What almost never gets given: somewhere to put the gear. Four price points, real pieces from the workshop — and an honest list of what not to buy a cyclist.

Why storage beats the twelfth jersey

A new jersey is a bet on size and taste — either one can miss, even with someone you know well. Shoes and saddles sit even closer to individual anatomy; a wrong guess usually ends up in the cupboard. Wear parts like a chain, cassette or brake pads have the opposite problem: they are consumables that get replaced anyway, so they rarely feel like much of a present. A wall mount for the bike and its gear falls into neither category. It doesn’t care about shoe size, it doesn’t wear out, and it stays visible — every day, not just on race day.

Four price points — what suits what

Six pieces from the workshop, sorted by price:

€110.90 Bike tablet/laptop stand with hardwood legs indoor riders, winter season
€189.95 Bike Gear wall mount, wood & stainless steel the big present, on display in the living room

Prices come from the current Etsy listing and can change depending on finish — the listing itself is always what counts.

For road cyclists: the bike should stay on display

Anyone who owns a road bike usually wants to see it — in the hallway, in the living room, not in the cellar under a dust sheet. A wooden wall mount makes that possible without a single metal hook pressing into the frame or the paint at one point.

With a carbon road bike the worry about pressure marks is fair, but solvable — more on that, plus fitting and a bike-type table, on the page about the wooden bike wall mount.

For indoor riders and triathletes: the winter setup

Anyone riding indoors in winter knows the other problem: where does the tablet or laptop go while the training app is running? That’s exactly what the indoor cycling tablet holder is for — hardwood legs, positioned at eye level in front of the trainer. The same goes for triathletes, who often train almost entirely indoors over winter and for whom a tidy, working setup usually matters more than one more piece of kit. Anyone who also wants to sort out the downstairs neighbours will find the vibration feet for turbo trainers.

Personalising: name, engraving, a special request

Of the pieces above, only the beech and PLA+ Bike Gear wall mount at €89.99 can currently be personalised — with a name, initials or a short engraving request. The surcharge for engraving is shown in the Etsy listing.

What not to buy a cyclist

A jersey, shoes and a saddle are all questions of fit — what suits one person perfectly can dig in on the next. Wear parts like chains, tyres or brake pads are consumables that get bought regularly anyway, and rarely feel like much of a gift. Electronics — GPS computers, power meters, smartwatches — are either already owned or tied to a specific brand and app ecosystem that’s hard to guess right from the outside. None of this is a knock on those things, just an honest reason they miss more often as a surprise than somewhere to put the gear does.

Occasions: Christmas, Father’s Day, birthdays, a first race

For Christmas, Father’s Day or a birthday, a wall mount works well because it doesn’t have a sell-by date and suits a road bike as much as an aluminium-frame bike. It also suits a first race or a first proper road bike, since it lets the new bike arrive visibly in the flat straight away. Current processing and shipping times are shown on the relevant Etsy listing.

Frequently asked questions

What do you get a road cyclist who has everything?

Usually it isn’t another piece of kit that’s missing, but somewhere to put it. A wooden wall mount for the bike or its gear is often the gift that’s harder to think of than another jersey — see the price points above.

What does a good gift for a cyclist cost?

From the Rocker Plate Feet at €19.90 to the full-size Bike Gear wall mount in wood and stainless steel at €189.95 — the table above shows which piece suits which budget and riding situation.

Can a gift for a cyclist be personalised?

Yes, the beech and PLA+ Bike Gear wall mount (€89.99) can be personalised with a name or an engraving request. The exact surcharge is shown in the relevant Etsy listing.

What do you get a triathlete?

Much like for road cyclists, it’s worth thinking about winter: a tablet stand for the turbo trainer or somewhere on the wall for the bike and its gear suit triathletes just as well as road cyclists — often more so, since indoor training makes up a bigger share of their training year.

How early should you order before Christmas?

There’s no blanket deadline to give here — current processing and shipping times are shown on the relevant Etsy listing and worth checking there before ordering.
